Christmas travel

It is truly the most wonderful time of the year. It is perfect time to celebrate the love for your family and to create long lasting memories. The best thing is that not only you receive love but you are able to share it with  others. Christmas is also the busiest time of the year. So here are some myths about traveling in Christmas.

1. Travelers are in better mood

As much as you would like to think it is true it is more like half true. As it may be the most wonderful time of the year it is also the most stressful time. It is always nice to meet a friendly person and receive a "Happy holiday!" while waiting in a line in airport but it is also likely that you will receive your share of grumpiness from the guy that forgot to buy the right gift and is on a a way of nervous breakdown. Probably the worst thing is that travelers are in big hurry and are not thinking about time necessary for getting threw airport security. To be honest everyone would get frustrated if there would be a chance of not seeing your friends or family during the holidays. Probably everyone has a bad memory of traveling around this time but the most important thing is to forget the grumpy guy that pushed you or the kid that was kicking your seat but remember the look of your loved ones  when you finally meet them.

2. Traveling costs more during Christmas

As experiences may differ for some persons it is still true that airplane tickets tend to go higher around holidays. They know it well that people are going away for more than just a few days. Prices tend to go up because of speculative pricing and demand. As it is more true for the airport companies it is not entirely true for all travel services. As an example hotel pricing can be surprisingly affordable because lot of people tend to stay with they families and business travel almost doesn't exist for this time of year, so many hotels have to work hard to fill the rooms. In the same time lots of travel companies tend to offer all sorts of holiday discounts for package deals. Just keep in mind that this can vary in different parts of world.

3. Alcohol makes you feel warmer

This one is fore every one who is traveling around in cold weather, especially in Iceland. It is known that since the 18th century the famous St. Bernard dogs with barrels of brandy attached to their collars have been helping to warm up snow stranded travelers in the Alps. If you are still being fooled that alcohol makes you warmer - it is not true. Alcoholic drinks may make you feel warmer, but it actually does the opposite and  lowers your core body temperature. The heat wave that makes you skin feel warm is deceptive. Drinking alcoholic drinks causes your blood vessels to dilate, moving warm blood closer to the surface of your skin, making you feel warmer but at the same time cooling it down.

There are lots of good reasons to have a drink this holiday season, but warming up shouldn't be one of them. Remember to be responsible! We wish you merry Christmas and happy New Year!
