Laugavegurinn pass one of the best hiking trails in the world

This popular hiking trail was closed for a while when Eyjafjallajökull volcano erupted in 2010. Actually the first eruption started on this pass - between Eyjafjallajökull and  Mýrdalsjökull ice cap. After eruption a different route has been opened  and because the eruption the trail is covered by lava rocks which  and new craters of Magni and Móði are just a small part of trails beauty.

The safest and probably the best time for hiking in this trail is summer. During the summer buses run from Reykjavik to starting point of the hiking trail. Complete hike takes up to 8 days but it is possible to cut the hike shorter by going from Thorsmork to Skógafoss, covering approximately 20km.
