White beaked dolphins and Harbour porpoises are quite frequently seen and the colossal Blue whale has been a regular guests as well.
Whale watching from Hjalteyri also offers you the chance to observe fantastic birdlife and natural scenery the Eyjafjörður fjord has to offer. There are one islands in the fjord, Hrísey, where a lot of birds nest. Therefore the birdlife is colourful, puffins, arctic terns, guillemots, gannets and more are frequently seen during the tours.
When returning from the whalewatch we will visit the Christmas garden where the fire glows and crackles in the fireplace. Christmas melodies and aroma are in the air.   The Christmas garden is only 30 minutes drive from Hjalteyri (a drive through Akureyri) and there you'll find the magical world of Christmas. On the outside the fire-engine red house resembles a cookie house but once inside you discover Christmas decorations from all over the world, alongside with traditional Icelandic Christmas items and variations of selected handicrafts from local craftsmen/women.  From visiting the Christmas garden we will head back to your ship and return you safe and sound accompanied with the spirit of Christmas and the enjoyment of having seen the whales.
